Initial road evaluation to determine skill level and focus areas. Work on driving and straight-line backing skills. Master the safety inspection. Log and understand the hours of service regulations. 2 Driving Experience (Week Two) Another road evaluation to review progress and focus areas. Continue to improve driving, slow maneuvers, and backing skills, including alley docking as well as 45 set ups. Develop trip planning and time management skills. Proficient at communicating via the on-board computer. Build skills and stamina to include night driving shifts. 3 Real World (Week Three) Trip plan with little to no input from the Driver Finishing Instructor. Safely complete all backing maneuvers. Confident and skilled maneuvering the truck and trailer with little to no input from the Driver Finishing Instructor. Self-sufficent in all skills required for a safe and successful driving career. Complete all online training and another road evaluation. 4 Truck Assignments Finishing Instructor determines if ready for test out. If so, you’re routed into a terminal for Safety to complete a test out. You’ve successfully completed a test out? Congratulations! You will now be assigned your own truck! From the Road Meet Our Drivers Ready to roll? Apply Online Qualifications and Expectations Are you road ready? 21 years of age or older, with a Class A commercial drivers license. Ability to meet work attendance and availability requirements and all applicable legal and DOT regulations to drive a commercial truck in the United States and Canada. Have the right to work and live in the United States. Tractor-trailer driving experience. Ability to pass all applicable CFI certification class testing and requirements. Driver Orientation Learning the Ropes Tuition Options Tuition Reimbursement If you’re working toward obtaining your CDL to begin your driving career at CFI, we’ll make your monthly tuition payments for the first 12 months of employment and then pay off the remainder of your tuition, up to $5,000 total. What you should bring: Current Valid Class A CDL Social Security Card (If you don’t have your SSC, you can bring your Passport or Passport Card, or your Birth Certificate Proof of citizenship/work authorization (if appropriate) All pages of your current DOT physical Checking or Savings Account routing numbers and account numbers for direct deposit Personal gear, please bring appropriate seasonal clothing, work boots or shoes (no sandals), and work gloves.
