Not only do we offer several routes for you to obtain your Class-A commercial driver’s license (CDL) we provide a place you can call home for the duration of your career. Our open-door policy allows professional drivers the opportunity to feel comfortable being open to resolve issues before they become problems. The relationship between fleet supervisors and professional drivers is one where they both can count on each other.

Week One:
  • Picked up by Driver Finishing Instructor after completing orientation
  • Initial road evaluation to determine skill level and focus areas
  • Work on driving and straight-line backing skills
  • Master the safety inspection
  • Log and understand the hours of service regulations
Week Two:
  • Another road evaluation to review progress and focus areas
  • Continue to improve driving, slow maneuvers, and backing skills, including alley docking as well as 45 set ups
  • Develop trip planning and time management skills
  • Proficient at communicating via the on-board computer
  • Build skills and stamina to include night driving shifts
Week Three:
  • Trip plan with little to no input from the Driver Finishing Instructor
  • Safely complete all backing maneuvers
  • Confident and skilled maneuvering the truck and trailer with little to no input from the Driver Finishing Instructor
  • Self-sufficient in all skills required for a safe and successful driving career
  • Complete all online training, and another road evaluation. Driver Finishing Instructor determines if ready for test out, if so routed into a terminal for safety to complete a test out.
  • Upon successful completion of test out, assigned a truck!

DRIVER ORIENTATION

Tuition Options  

Tuition Reimbursement 
If you’re working toward obtaining your CDL to begin your driving career at CFI, we’ll make your monthly tuition payments for the first 12 months of employment and then pay off the remainder of your tuition, up to $5,000 total. 

Company-paid Tuition 
With a 12-month commitment to drive for CFI, qualified students can now receive fully paid tuition to attend driving school in Missouri. We’ll even cover your room and board for the duration of the four-week course. 

What you should bring:

    • Current Valid Class A CDL  
 
    • Social Security Card (If you don’t have your SSC, you can bring your Passport or Passport Card, or your Birth Certificate)
 
    • Proof of citizenship/work authorization (if appropriate)  
 
    • All pages of your current DOT physical
 
  • UDS and Hair Test – needs to be taken prior to orientation
  • Checking or Savings Account routing numbers and account numbers for direct deposit 

  • Personal gear, please bring appropriate seasonal clothing, work boots or shoes (no sandals), and work gloves.    

  • Pets are not allowed in orientation. Please contact your recruiter for specifics/questions regarding our pet policy.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQ)

We allow one pet per person on the tractor with a non-refundable $500 deposit. The deposit can be paid in a lump sum, or it can be made in payments.  

  • We allow one person per seat belt in the tractor with a signed rider pass that must be completed with the Passenger Pass office. Riders must be at least 12 years of age and have a valid birth certificate or driver’s license.  
  • Pass is valid 180 days for a spouse and 30 days for all other passengers.

We hire straight out of school not exceeding 90 days from graduation from an approved school or 3 months verifiable experience  

If you do not have a CDL, we provide a CDL-A tuition sponsorship program for students who want to obtain their CDL and drive over-the-road. The program pays for tuition, travel, board and meals during the three-week school. After graduation students attend paid orientation and drive 140 hours under the guidance of a Driver Finishing Instructor. In exchange, our students drive with us for one year.   

  • Locations: Dallas, TX; Joplin, MO; Conyers, GA; Indianapolis, IN. 
  • Orientation lasts two days and pays $60 per day. 
  • CFI pays for travel, lodging, and lunch. Some locations also include breakfast. Locations include: Dallas, TX; Joplin, MO; Conyers, GA; Indianapolis, IN.
